In a week, Semana Santa (Holy Week) will begin.
This is one of the most important celebrations of the year in the Dominican Republic.
The festive week is accompanied by lots of eating, drinking and dancing.
Many flock to the country's beaches to celebrate.
And then quite a few accidents or other disturbances happen.
The Defensa Civil (Civil Guard) is very busy during this week to ensure everything runs smoothly and to provide assistance where necessary.

Last week, as part of their 60-hour student social service, young people from Sosúa received first aid lessons and prevention training from the Defensa Civil, in preparation for the big Easter operation of 2025.
The young people will therefore help during Semana Santa.
This collaboration not only strengthens the training of the volunteers, but also the sense of responsibility and solidarity of our students, who are ready to provide assistance in emergency situations.
Thanks to the Defensa Civil for this important work and the young people for their presence!
