The owners of several bars, restaurants and hotels in the main street Pedro Clisante have lost a lawsuit against a municipal ordinance at the court in Puerto Plata.
This lawsuit was also supported by Mayor Wilfredo Olivences and Councilor Enmanuel Gómez.
In this ordinance, which was submitted under Mayor Ilana Neumann, the zoning plan for this part of the Pedro Clisante was established.
Only restaurants, shops and offices will be allowed in this area.
The existing bars and discotheques will have to adapt or move to the end of the Pedro Clisante.
With the removal of this type of nightlife, it is hoped that more space will be created for the development of family tourism.
