Four days off, which was a very long weekend!
Friday was the holiday in honour of the Holy Altagracia.
Many Catholics from Sosua made a pilgrimage to the cathedral of Higüey to attend the Mass in honour of this patron saint.
Monday there was another holiday to celebrate the birthday of Juan Pablo Duarte, the founder of the Republic, who was born on 26 of January 1813.
This means that we had four days off so we could go dancing again and have a party.
It was busy on the beach
It was busy on the beach
And on Sunday, 23 January it was very busy on the beach of Sosúa.
It seemed as if entire Santiago had traveled by motorcycle, private car, truck and bus to the beach town.
The Dominican bars and restaurants did well in sales, although many families had brought their own food and drinks.
Especially the fried fish with fried bananas were very popular.
It was notable that the bars, owned by foreigners were not as busy.
One of the owners said: 'My customers (German and Dutch), will be back again when it is quiet again on the beach'.
