The management of the store chain 'Grupo Ramos' has announced that its new store, located on the Malecón in Puerto Plata, will open, in festive style, on Wednesday 4 March.
Various dignitaries such as government ministers, governors and local mayors, will undoubtedly be present on this auspicious occasion.
The construction of the combined department store and supermarket has cost 300 million pesos.
The store will employ 310 staff (mainly from Puerto Plata).
A La Sirena offer
Both the director of this new branch, Mr Ramon Pou, and his general manager, Juan Luis Hazim, both live in Puerto Plata.
The store will sell a wide range of articles for the home, household, as well as clothes, shoes, healthcare and cleaning products, school items, sports equipment, books and magazines, plus hardware/software, household appliances and food items in the supermarket.
This new branch will also include a bank, pharmacy, mobile phone store, and a bakery.
Grupo Ramos has 6 branches throughout the country (Santo Domingo, San Cristóbal, Santiago, San Francisco de Macorís and now also Puerto Plata) and is the largest chain of department stores in the country.
The company started 40 years ago, and was established by its founder, Román Ramos Uría, with a single store in Santo Domingo.
